What’s the softest and comfiest natural material on this planet? Cashmere? WRONG!
I made the mistake of thinking that cashmere was the best of the best in producing warm, cozy, and durable winter gear. So I spent a couple of hundred dollars on a cashmere blanket and a cashmere scarf, only to find it to be irritatingly itchy.
You can imagine my disappointment.
Being that I have low iron (as most women do) and that the cold Canadian weather has set in.. I was desperate and running out of time to find my casual winter gear.
Until I stumbled across Paka Apparel, a small, sustainable fashion brand that produces sweaters, hats, socks, etc. They source their materials from a village in Peru! Their story is super cute, human, hipster, and it’s easy to fall in love with.
But what REALLY piqued my interest about this brand is that their sweaters are made from Alpaca wool – FROM REAL LIFE ALPACAS!
I don’t know if this is just me, but Alpacas make my soul happy. They are just mega adorable and fluffy, and they look so joyful! Just seeing a photo of an alpaca brightens my day.
I had to get a sweater.
I purchased the “VIDA” sweater, a neutral-toned sweater with a slight V neckline and a hoodie.
I typically don’t like hoodies, they are too sporty for my taste. But this style looked really neutral, it didn’t fall into a fashion category or a gender category. It looked like what it was, a sweater.
Shipping & Packaging
It took a while to arrive in the mail.. but when it came to my house I was so excited to feel the material!
It arrived in eco-friendly packaging – even their thankyou card was environmentally friendly! It was printed on a thin piece of wood, which was really unique and cool to me! Packaged held my precious sweater, an alpaca logo sticker and a woven bracelet.
Fit & Feel:
I used the sizing guidelines available on their website when choosing which size to get. I was quite happy with the fit, it wasn’t tight or baggy, it was perfect.
Now, let me tell you. THIS. SWEATER. IS. THE. SOFTEST. SWEATER. I. HAVE. EVER. WORN.
When I put it on, I instantly felt at ease and totally swaddled in comfort.
I wore the sweater with a pair of leather pants from RUDSAK and boots from BLONDO (both Canadian brands). This outfit looked super casual, but rock and roll, which I could totally vibe with.
I find myself always reaching for the sweater in my wardrobe when I am going out to run errands or if I’m in work mode in my home office.
This sweater is super practical, soft, and it makes me happy to have something that is made out of alpaca fur.
I want to allow everyone the opportunity to be warm and cozy this winter, so I reached out to Paka Apparel and got a promo code for you all!
